What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol is a phytocannabinoid, a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. When extracted from the industrial hemp plant, CBD is non-intoxicating, federally legal, safe and well tolerated even at high doses.
How Does CBD Work?
Our bodies naturally contain a series of receptors called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). In simple terms, our ECS keeps the body's internal processes in a state of balance or Homeostasis. CBD acts as a supplement interacting with these receptors to help restore balance within us.
Benefits of CBD
Though non-intoxicating, CBD is still gaining momentum in the health and wellness world and for good reason. With no major side effects to date, a significant amount of research indicates CBD can help relieve symptoms of social anxiety, depression, pain, nausea, inflammation, epilepsy, acne, hypertension, and so much more.
Hemp vs. Marijuana
Hemp and Marijuana stem from the same species of plant (Cannabis sativa L), but are two different varieties of cannabis. In general, CBD can be found in both. However it's important to note that hemp plants produce higher amounts of CBD with practically zero traces of THC. The Releaf Shop is proud to sell only Hemp-derived CBD products that are formulated to pharmaceutical standards in FDA-registered facilities.
Will CBD Get me High?
CBD is not THC, CBD is non-intoxicating and will not get you high. In fact, CBD counteracts the psychoactive effects or the high commonly associated with THC and marijuana. You will however feel all the other positive effects of cannabis, such as balanced moods, pain relief, and therapeutic relaxation.
Will CBD Show on a Drug Test?
No, CBD does not show on a drug test. However, some CBD products may contain trace amounts of THC metabolites (full-spectrum) that when used in extremely high doses may cause a false positive. To avoid this, only purchase CBD products from a reputable source that carries products that have been 3rd party lab tested.
Types of CBD
Full Spectrum-oil that contains the full cannabinoid profile of the hemp plant, including CBD, CBG, CBN, a tiny trace of THC (below 0.3%, so non-intoxicating), and other cannabinoids.
Broad Spectrum-CBD oil that has undergone an additional filtering process to remove the trace amounts of THC that exist in full spectrum CBD.
Isolate-is 99% pure CBD with all other active plant matter — other cannabinoids, terpenes, essential oils — removed.
Ways to Consume
Your body will absorb CBD through the bloodstream. There are 4 major methods of consumption: Edibles, Sublingual, Topical, and Inhalation. Here at The Releaf Shop, we have a wide variety of flavors and strain for every consumption method.
